A Fun Week
Sister Erickson, being the gregarious person that she is, has made friends with several of the people in our apartment building. On Saturday we enjoyed a fun filled and uplifting dinner with three of those people.
Katrina and Mario, on the left and who are married, take care of our apartment building and keep it exceptionally clean. Ercília, who is 82 years old, is a retired school teacher. Interestingly, our dinner truly had an international flair. Katrina was born in Brazil, Mario in Angola, Ercília in Portugal and, of course, we are from the US.

Our Final Sacrament Meeting
Today we bid farewell to our ward members and spoke in our final sacrament meeting. Next week is General Conference and then we fly home on April 6th.
Between us stands Eloy, who was the first speaker. Without question he captured the hearts of everyone in the audience and left us with a hard act to follow. It was an emotional day for everyone involved.

A Taste of Portugal
On Terceira Island this statue depicts "The Running of the Bulls".
The Running of the Bulls is an annual event held on the island. Fortunately, it was not held on the weekend that we were there and we left Terceira unscathed.

The Bishopric
Before we left the stand, we were able to capture a picture of the ward bishopric.
On the left is Edson a counselor from Cape Verde. Bispo Boaventura, next to Sister Erickson, is also from Cape Verde but a long time resident of Portugal. Diogo is another counselor and just recently arrived from Brazil.

The Missionaries
As always we are thrilled to highlight the young missionaries who are, indeed, a blessing in our lives as well as the lives of many others.
Sister Silversmith is from American Fork, UT and Sister Costa, originally from Brazil, is currently from Portugal.

We have just received notice that our homecoming talks in our home ward are scheduled for April 16th. Please let us know if you would like additional information.

  1. Well done. I am sure you have been a wonderful asset to the people of Portugal and that they will miss you as you will miss them. I have enjoyed being included in your blogs. Once a senior missionary, that spirit stays with you. Maybe so as a young missionary as well, but I didn't have that opportunity. May our Heavenly Father bless you as you prepare to come home and in the coming weeks of adjustment. Love and prayers.
